Julia Marton-Lefèvre says we are taking too many chances by destroying non-human species. We need to see nature as a complex system that supports humanity. One of the problems that we must overcome is our tendency to look at issues in categories. Instead we need to more inter-disciplinary in our approach to solving complex challenges. The other problem is governance. Environmental ministries are often very junior. They must become more empowered. Or better still, all government ministries should embed within them environmental governance.
